The Industry Standard in mass cigar production is to use as few leaves as possible to achieve the blend in the cigar. Most labels limit the selection to three leaves and then adjust the quantity of each used to create their signature flavor. From the perspective of mass manufacturing, it is inexcusably costly and superfluous to carry a huge bulk inventory in more leaves than necessary. Also, each of the rollers are dedicated to building one size and one blend each and every day at the factory. This method takes advantage of standardized production to achieve greater volume and is a form of quality control.

Our House is dedicated to celebrating the creativity and artistry of cigar making. Our Master Rollers are not workers pumping out acceptable product as fast as they can. We purposefully encourage artistic expression. We prefer them to take their time and focus on the true magic of blending our recipes with great care. We offer an immense selection of Premium leaf from all over the Free World because it is our mission to provide you with an alternative in the highly standardized world of cigars. We are constantly pushing the boundaries to explore and expand what is possible. We consider the following blends to be Exotic because they incorporate more than four filler leaves + binder + wrapper…which is unheard of in the Industry of Cigar Production.

EXOTIC MEDIUM BODY BLENDS

La Loca - Kalaidescopic

Early one morning, our Master Blender came bursting in to the factory with great excitement. He ran over to our Master Roller with great urgency to tell him about a dream he had. In the dream, he was smoking a cigar with his grandfather deep within vast fields of maturing tobacco. For Willie, it was a beautiful magical dream moment…two Catadores in the same family collaborating together to analyze this unique, unknown blend with the animation and expertise of those who love their craft. Suddenly, Willie woke up with the recipe and a burning need to build one immediately. Our Master Roller listened in interest to the list of all the tobaccos needed to create this filler and his eyes grew big as saucers!!! He told Willie he was crazy!!! There were too many tobaccos…this kind of blending was just not done!!! Willie stood there in his pajamas and said, “Build it anyway.“ with great conviction. And the La Loca was born! This “Crazy Blend" breaks all the rules in tobacco blending! Incorporating 7 different leaves from 7 different countries in the fill, we have achieved a sophisticated smoke that is deliciously rich, amazingly full-flavored, and strikingly aromatic. By integrating such a great variety of filler leaves in this blend, we have been able to achieve an unparalleled complexity for the palette to contemplate. It is a kaleidoscopic journey of flavors as each unique leaf flavor comes forward on the tongue, presents itself, and then blends back into the background body of the cigar. The Babalu - Exotic Medium / Full Body Blend

This blend rides right on the cusp of the medium to full body categories. It features a well balanced spice with pleasing undertones of earth and leather notes. It is a rich smoke that boasts an incredible aroma and saturates the palate with a sophisticated depth of flavor. This smoke starts rich and finishes more richly, developing great depth and spice as it burns. Featuring 5 distinct filler leaves, this combination proves without a doubt that great complexity and harmony can be achieved by integrating more leaves in the fill…as long as they are presented in proper proportion. It is a relaxing smoke that takes its Own time to develop to full bodied velocity. A perfect smoke for the Connoisseur who is searching for a flavorful break from the

Chango - Double Maduro

The Chango was a special inspiration on the part of our Master Blender and is a very unique smoke. While most of our exotics fall easily into the Full Body range, this blend is a superb example of a Medium Body in taste and a Full Body in effect. It is rich and very flavorful…and creamy in the extreme! This blend presents smooth, harmonized flavors of cream and caramel to the palate. Then, at the half-way mark, this blend develops a momentum of flavor that takes on a life of its own and what was mellow now becomes unbelievably rich. This blend is super slow burning, taking its own time to bloom into an unforgettable cigar smoking experience. Featured in the Walnut toned Ecuador Oscuro, this fill is so rich that it overrides the naturally dominant spiciness of the wrapper and presents as mellow and earthy on the tongue. A “must smoke” in the Humidor.

The Yin Yang - Exotic Medium / Full Body Blend

This blend made its debut on Valentine’s Day. It is a visually and conceptually unique cigar…and quite a smoking experience. The wrapper presentation itself is the first clue that there is something special happening…the foot to the mid-point of the cigar is wrapped in our light and creamy Connecticut Shade and the mid-point to the head of the cigar is wrapped in our spicy, walnut-toned Ecuador Oscuro. The fill is unique to this blend and holds both spicy notes as well as a nice balance of earth tones. The best part of smoking this cigar is that you are really smoking two cigars in one. When you hit that mid-point where the wrappers change, it is like the turbo kicking in on your Porsche and you are off on a full bodied smoking experience that is one unforgettable ride! This cigar has a wow factor of 100%. And the best part is, once you have smoked one, the anticipation of shifting into that wrapper change becomes part of the smoking experience to be savored in and of itself.

The NewYorican

The NewYorican is a Hallmark blend in our collection because it was created to celebrate the re-emergence of Premium wrapper leaf from Puerto Rico. Known for producing Premium wrapper in the past, it has been many many Years since the Central West Region of the island, known as Utuado, has produced such a fine tobacco leaf. The soil has rested and has been rejuvenated and replenished to provide a special flavor unlike any other wrapper leaf We have tasted…boasting a rich medium tone with a nice accent of spice. The fill was created specifically to show off this wrapper. It is a five leaf fill Boasting three ligero leaves from three different countries. One would expect a super-spicy, stomach churning smoke with so much ligero…but the NewYorican smokes easy and is rather creamy/leathery on the palette. It is strength tempered with mellow earthiness. This is not a super spicy blend at all, but it will sit you down in a chair the way our full bodied blends are known to do. It is one of the newest House Favorites…try one and you will know why!

El Loco

El Loco translates into “Crazy Guy” in English. And, we will happily admit that this blend is aptly named! This blend was created as a counterpart to the La Loca, or “Crazy Lady” cigar which quickly became one of our Signature Exotic House Blends. This Crazy Guy blend is a Full Bodied representation of our Exotic blending philosophy. Most cigars are made with 3 filler leaves maximum. We know that when you properly proportion the correct tobacco leaves together, it is possible to use many more than 3 tobacco leaves and build a fabulous cigar. El Loco is a perfect example of an impressively complex blend that is bursting with a myriad of subtle nuances of flavor and incorporates 5 distinct filler leaves. It is a rich, full smoke that features a hearty, flavorful depth with strong spice tones even when smoked in the creamy Connecticut Shade or the Dominican Deflorada. When paired with the Walnut toned Ecuador Oscuro, El Loco really takes on some muscle and takes you on a journey to the outer limits of the Full Body flavor range. The ButterRican

This blend was created specifically for the palette of Colonel Jeffrey Butter of the United States Marine Corps and quickly skyrocketed to Top Seller in our Humidor! Incorporating 4 filler leaves from 4 different countries + binder + wrapper, this blend is most unique! By taking a non-traditional approach to standard leaf combinations, we have achieved a complexity of flavor which is wonderfully rich and full of beautiful earth tones but also features a clean, bright spice on the top of the palette. We put this fill with our beautiful new wrapper from Puerto Rico and it took everything to the next level. It is packed with more flavor, more spice, more earthy warmth, and more full body effect. The Colonel was the first to smoke this new creation and declared it “The ButterRican” in acknowledgement of this new version of his Butterman created by adding in this rich and mega flavorful new wrapper from Puerto Rico.

The Jade

Custom Blended for our youngest Founding Cigar Club Member Alex (...and named after his beloved...) this cigar was created to please an impressively mature palette that is most often associated with a veteran aficionado that has decades of cigar smoking experience. Alex burned through our Full Bodied stock with ease…joking that they were great for “breakfast cigars” but that he wanted something with some “meat on it”. He wanted it mega-rich. He wanted it hearty & strong. He wanted it mouth-wateringly spicy. And his personal blend had to impress his future father in law too! The Jade honors his fiancé’s lineage as the daughter of a highly respected Cuban cigar manufacturing family and also her father’s life-long dedication to producing hand crafted premium cigars. To make a long story short…we built his cigar, his future Father in Law was impressed, and he married the girl of his dreams! This Full-Bodied Blend carries all the deep complexities & character his raven-haired love inspires and was introduced for the first time at their wedding reception. This exotic smoke features six unique tobaccos in the filler that pique every part of the palette. It is a must-smoke for Full Bodied Cigar Aficionados that want to taste the magic.

Cuba Libre

Taste the joyful flavors of Liberated Cuban Seed!!! This cigar showcases the mild, medium & strong leaves of
Cuban Seed tobacco grown in Santo Domingo. It is blended to reflect the Cuban Tradition of strength, spiciness, and flavor, yet mellowed a touch with a creamy binder so as never to be bitter. We consider it an exotic because this blend requires 5 filler leaves to achieve its distinctive “Old School” flavor. Originally built in the earthy, spicy Ecuador Oscuro Wrapper to bring out richness & depth and underscore the fuller flavor of these plant strains, this blend is tasty in any wrapper we have paired with it.
